This creates the impression that human hair is readily available and is in plentiful supply. Please be aware that most hair available on the market today is not of the Remy standard. This means that due to the way the hair is collected the cuticles of the hair vary from strand to strand. To correct this, the hair is often chemically processed in order to completely remove the cuticles. The hair is placed in an acid bath and this is equivalent to having the hair permed ten times and is obviously very damaging to the quality of the hair. After this the hair is dipped in silicone to make it look silky and shiny and add weight to it as hair is often sold by weight. At first glance and when this non-Remy hair is applied it appears nice and smooth. However, after several washes the silicone layer comes away and the hair becomes dry, dull and brittle and starts to tangle easily. It is not recommended that you use non-Remy hair for long term hair extensions as it will matt and tangle easily and cause damage to your own hair.

Remy Cuticle Hair is the hair that is collected by the process of cutting the hair from the person’s head. The direction of the cuticle is therefore controlled and maintained. To some extent all hair must be processed to ensure that the cuticle is aligned in the same direction. Because of the method of collection this type of hair is in short supply and is quite expensive and it will last a long time if properly maintained.

European Hair

The hair is available in various colours and textures. Some women in Europe never colour or perm their hair and because of this it is in great condition and is one of the best possible hair to use for long term hair extensions. This type of natural virgin hair that has not been chemically processed and altered is in short supply and high demand and is for obvious reasons more expensive than any other hair.

Russian Virgin Hair

Hair that has not been chemically altered and roots and tips run in the same direction. The term ‘Virgin hair’ usually refers to Russian hair as other type of hair is rarely sold in a state of its original, unaltered colour and texture. This hair is very expensive and is in very short supply.

Russian Virgin Hair – Deluxe Line

Hair that has not been chemically altered and roots and tips run in the same direction. This hair is double drawn and a finer separation of the hair is achieved. This is a much more labour intensive process and therefore doubles the price of the hair. Most of the hair traders do not double draw the hair in this way. The superior quality of this meticulously hand selected hair has traditionally been exclusively reserved for the Hollywood stars and the film industry and has only recently become available commercially.
